One Dead After Saturday Little Tokyo Nightclub Shooting

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — One of the two men shot outside the Vault XXI lounge in Little Tokyo early Saturday morning has died as police continue to look for the suspect in what is now classified a homicide.
Jackie Hoang, 29, of Alhambra died Saturday morning at the USC - L.A. County Medical Center. The other victim is said to be in stable condition.
A masked man described as approximately 5'6" tall with medium build fired more than a half-dozen rounds from a semi-automatic handgun around 1:30am on Saturday as Hoang and another man were smoking outside the entrance of the club, located at 3rd and Alameda in the Little Tokyo Galleria.
The suspect was wearing a dark flannel shirt and jeans, along with a small, beige fedora.

We are going to see more of this type of thing if we don't work to balance downtown's development. At some point we need to attract other types of businesses besides places to get drunk.

I think Little Tokyo is the best balance neighborhood in Downtown...lots of retail shops, restaurants, grocery stores, museums. I don't know what type of people this club attracts so I can't comment on the Vault XXI. Don't blame it on the lack of balance in this area.
