Local indie rockers The 88 have made a successful career out of playing the new media game, landing songs in commercials and television shows like "How I Met Your Mother." They also garnered media buzz in 2009 by recording their single "Love is the Thing" entirely on an iPhone.

Put placements and gimmicks aside, though, and it is the band's catchy hooks and high-energy performances that have garnered it a following and tours opening for acts like Ray Davies, Smashing Pumpkins, the B-52s, The Flaming Lips, Matt Costa, Rilo Kiley, and Elliott Smith.

On Thursday, July 28, The 88 visit the Grammy Museum to perform in the intimate sound stage as part of the museum's Homegrown series. We've got three pairs of tickets to give away to blogdowntown readers who want to see the show.

To enter, leave a comment below saying why you want to win. Make sure to sign in with an account we can use to reach you. Entries close Wednesday at 4pm.
