Angels Knoll's Goats are Back

A herd of goats grazes on the Angels Knoll hillside on Friday. It is the third time the goats have been brought Downtown to control weeds.
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — One of Downtown's most peculiar urban sights returned on Wednesday as dozens of hungry goats was unleashed on the weedy Angels Knoll hillside at 4th and Hill.
The herd of approximately 100 goats, first brought Downtown for the job in 2008, are touted by the Community Redevelopment Agency as a cheap and environmentally friendly alternative to loosing a crew with gasoline-powered weed whackers on the site.
The four-legged workforce was brought back in 2009 and 2010.
Want to see the show? Don't wait around. The hillside clearing should only take the goats approximately two days to finish up.

Oh man...I'm gonna miss it AGAIN!!! I love the goats downtown. We really need to hold like a goat festival or something to celebrate the goats. This is the best idea EVER!!!!!

I love the goats too. I've got to say, it's one of my favorite thing about living on Bunker Hill. Just last week I was wondering when they'd bring the critters back.

The goats were gone today and there was a lone man with a weed whacker going at it. I guess the team of goats were not enough to deal with the overgrowth problem on Angels Knoll. By the way, when do goats sleep? Because I was there at 1am the other day and they were still awake.

How much gas does it take to drive 100 goats from wherever they live to DTLA? Bet the effecieny is a wash. Slightly greener? Maybe. but goats are way more awesome.
