Sunday: L.A. Triathlon Brings Runners, Street Closures
LADOT
Downtown street closures for the 2011 L.A. Triathlon will run roughly 7:30am to 1:30pm.
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — A field of 2,500 tired runners will descend this Sunday for the last leg of the 12th annual Los Angeles Triathlon, closing down Grand Avenue through most of Downtown.
After transitioning off their bicycles on Flower Street just north of Olympic, participants will take 11th Street to Grand before heading north to 1st Street. Those competing on the event's Olympic course will have to do the route twice, including two torturous climbs up the hill from 6th to Bunker Hill.
Street closures along Olympic, Figueroa, Flower, 11th and Grand will run roughly 7:30am to 1:30pm.
Also closing portions of both upper and lower Grand Avenue on Saturday and Sunday is filming for the Christopher Nolan-helmed film "The Dark Knight Rises", which has shot Downtown extensively in recent weeks. There is no indication that Batman intends to get in a run before his time on-set.
