How Would You Kick Start Downtown?

At Monday night's first monthly Downtown tech meetup, conversation wandered from programming and camera concepts to Kickstarter, a website where those with ideas about something they want to build or create can raise startup money from folks who think their concept is worthwhile.

After admiring revolights, the following question was raised: What would you put together as a Kickstarter project for Downtown?

It's an interesting question because of the relatively narrow scope for what makes a good Kickstarter project. The site is used to raise funding, anywhere from a few thousand dollars to several hundred thousand dollars. Projects need to appeal to a wide range of people, since funding comes from a lot of people giving a relatively small amount each.

Projects also need to be easy to pitch to people, and they need to be such that the funding is the only thing standing in the way of making it happen. For instance, bike lanes were brought up at Monday's meeting, but bike lanes don't necessarily make a great project here because their creation is as much about politics as it is about funding.

So what would you pitch to Downtown?
