The ongoing Occupy L.A. protest and its tent city sprawled out beyond City Hall on Wednesday evening, as tents were set up on Fletcher Bowron Square next to the Triforium.

Two and a half weeks after Occupy L.A. set up camp at City Hall, the protest got its first suburbs on Wednesday as tents were set up in the glow of the Triforium's colored lights at Fletcher Bowron Square.

Like many master-planned suburbs, the encampment sprung up suddenly with identical homes. A dozen tents fresh out of their boxes bore numbered signs and labels for the SEIU United Long Term Care Workers union.

The city-owned plaza on the northeast corner of Temple and Spring won't offer the protesters much room for expansion, however. Most of the area around the 1975 Triforium is paved.
