A sign at the eastern mouth of the 3rd Street Tunnel warns drivers of street closures on Sunday for the Los Angeles stop of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon series.

Thinking of driving around Downtown on Sunday morning? You may want to reconsider: a number of streets will be closed for much of the day to clear a course for Los Angeles' 2011 Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon.

The event starts and ends at L.A. Live, sending runners on a trip to Exposition Park before they head into the heart of Downtown and through the 3rd Street Tunnel. The course makes it across the river and into Boyle Heights before retracing its path.

The result is closures on both east-west and north-south streets through Downtown that should make an interesting trip for anyone foolish enough to get in their car between 4:30am and 12:30pm.

Through Downtown, closures will be focused on Flower, 3rd, Central and 6th. Figueroa will be closed from L.A. Live to Exposition Park.
