J Restaurant and Lounge is closing its doors after five years of business.

The South Park restaurant on Olive Street recently announced its closure via Facebook and Twitter. Although J Restaurant & Lounge has a large Italian/Spanish-influenced menu, the Downtown spot was best known for its Sunday brunches, expansive patio and dance floor.

A note recently posted on the J Restaurant's Facebook page announced their closure -- "It is with deep gratitude that we inform you after over 5 inspiring years of business, we are closing our doors."

The note continued with: It has been a great pleasure to host hundreds of events for guests joining us from around the globe. With our award winning wine program, Sunday Brunch, and gourmet feel-good cuisine, we have left a mark at this legendary location of 1119 S. Olive Street. It has been our honor to pioneer the nightlife for our friends and neighbors in Downtown, Los Angeles.

The 25,000 square-foot space often hosed special events including a New Year's Eve celebration, Super Bowl party and rotating guest DJs. J's large patio boasted views of the L.A. skyline, a large fire pit and "8 VIP cabanas" that included flat screen TVs.
