Participants in a "Taste of Dance" event from 2011.

This Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Music Center's Active Arts program is offering $1 dance/workout classes at Downtown's Music Center Plaza. Each class will be a 20 minute "taste" of different forms of fitness -- from Hip-Hop Aerobics, to Awesome '80s Dance Workout and Salsa Fitness.

This "Taste of Dance Fitness" will be led by dance teachers that were recruited from fitness studios throughout the city. The day begins with a free Cardio-A-Go-GO class at 11 a.m. and ends with a free Zumba class at 3:20 p.m.

"We want people to come to the Music Center to have fun and learn new things, whether it be singing, dancing or playing music," said Christina O'Connell from the Music Center in an email.

She added that they're expecting hundreds of participants, based on previous "Taste of Dance" events.

The fitness classes are all available for purchase the day of the event. The schedule is as follows:

11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Afro-Caribe Workout, Hip-Hop Aerobics, Just Dance Blast, Salsa Fitness and Low-Impact Capoeira

1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Awesome 80s Dance Workout, Bollywood Bhangra Burn, Cardio Merengue, Jazzercise and Tahitian Dance Fitness

The Music Center is located at 135 North Grand Avenue. The dancing will take place outside in the plaza.
