DTLA goes extreme: X Games street sports competition releases list of invited athletes

The X Games will return to Los Angeles for their tenth year.
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — The X Games released a list on Thursday of athletes who will be invited to compete at this year's extreme sports competition in Downtown L.A.
More than 200 people from all over the world will participate in the skateboard, BMX, motorcross and Rally competitions.
ESPN reports that the 2012 games will take place throughout L.A. Live, including the Staples Center and Nokia Theatre. It was also feature the debut of the Big Air ramp on Chick Hearn Court.
"The world-class athletes, competition and distinctive elements of X Games Los Angeles truly embody the global nature and appeal of action sports," said Scott Guglielmino, senior vice president of programming and X Games, according to ESPN.
The X Games first came to Los Angeles in 2003, making this the tenth anniversary of the event's move.
The games begin June 28 and run until July 1. Pre-sale tickets go on sale May 24.
