DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Soleto Trattoria and Pizza Bar officially opened on Figueroa on Tuesday, as the latest project from an upscale restaurant group that previously focused mostly on Westside and Hollywood locations.
Innovative Dining Group, responsible for the Boa Steakhouse in West Hollywood and Santa Monica, as well as Sushi Roku in cities including Pasadena and Las Vegas, debuted their first Downtown endeavor yesterday with Soleto.
The group describes themselves on their website as having "exceptional cuisine" and opening restaurants where patrons can "rub shoulders with the 'who’s who' of the city."
Their new 3,500-square-foot space in DTLA seems to be a more relaxed version of their restaurant standard, with Soleto's exposed brick, high ceilings, refined-rustic wood tables and chairs and an outdoor patio. The dishes are described by the restauranteurs as "straightforward and unpretentious food inspired by Southern Italian cooking."
The lunch and dinner menu includes salads, pizzas, pastas, steaks and sandwiches. Salads range from about $7 for a basic starter or Caesar, to $16 for the Grilled Shrimp Cobb. Pizzas average around $14 as do pastas, where main courses go as high as $37 for the 28 Day Dry Aged New York Steak.
The wraparound bar will also host happy hours from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday and include $3 sangria and beer and $4 glasses of wine. Snacks range from $3 to $8 for Ricotta Bruschetta, Crispy Polenta Croquettes or an Antipasti Platter.
Regular business hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant had been in its soft opening phase since the end of June and had it's official opening yesterday.
Soleto's located at 801 S. Figueroa St.
