A body was found in the street on Spring Street between 6th and 7th streets.

The body of an adult male was found in the middle of a downtown L.A. street on Monday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Bruce Borihanh, an LAPD public information officer, said a call came in a little after 11 a.m. reporting a body on Spring Street between 6th and 7th streets.

Initially police believed the person was a transient, but it turns out he had jumped from a nearby building in what was an "apparent suicide," said Borihanh. Police think he may have been a resident of one of those buildings.

The investigation is ongoing.

Keep us updated! The rumors run rampant without proper knowledge. Already heard he was thrown off the roof, that he landed in Harlem Alley, etc, etc. We rely on you, Blogdowntown, for the facts!

I drove by the naked body before it was covered. It appeared he had a gunshot wound in his head? And I don't think I saw blood on the street.

i like how they've phrased it .... "found."

"hey anyone lose an iPhone? oh wait n it's a body!"

"oh we just happened to look down and see a smashed corpse - WHO KNOWS how long it's been there ... you know - in the middle of the street. i think it might have been there two-weeks ago but everyone just thought it was the city's new installment of speed bumps."

how "mysteriously" dumb.

living in Chicago and a body was "found" the Tribune would just go ahead and say ... 'Yo - heads up, dude jumped ... it happens - unfortunately.'

His name was KJ. He was not transient, he lived in a penthouse in my building on Spring. I did see the covered body as it was in the street surrounded by police cars and yellow tape for hours. Many neighbors were shocked and saddened by the loss today.

@Sommer: Sommer, so sorry to hear this. Always tragic when we hear about the jumpers. What building do you live in? I know a lot of people that live in the 7th & Spring building (not BS)and wondered if I knew KJ? I'm assuming you might have used initials? Or maybe a nickname? Thanks...

He lived in the SB Spring Building, Penthouse 10. I walked by him place around 8:15am headed to the elevator and remember thinking to myself that it was a little strange hearing loud-ish trance/ethereal music coming from his place so early.
