Jason Steigerwald, who sheriffs believe stole a 2008 blue Maserati Granturismo from Motor Village LA in July by simply asking for the keys.

Earlier this summer a $75,000 2008 Maserati Granturismo was stolen from Motor Village LA in Downtown after a man asked a salesperson for the key to the blue sports car so he could listen to the engine.

The suspect got in the car, revved up the motor, and drove off down Figueroa.

Last month the exotic vehicle was recovered undamaged but police are still looking for the suspect who detectives believe is Jason Allen Steigerwald.

According to the L.A. County Sheriff Dept., Steigerwald was released on parole on July 14, 2012, just four days before the Maserati heist.

Lieutenant Dominic Valencia told Blogdowntown that the department is aware of what areas Steigerwald is known to frequent, but doesn't want to limit the scope of their investigation.

He asks that if anyone has information regarding Steigerwald that they calll him at (800)299-TRAP (8727) or at 626-625-8401,. He can also be reached at djvalenc@lasd.org.
