Gene Simmons and Wolfgang Puck are hosting Rocktoberfest beginning on Monday.
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Gene Simmons will be Rocktoberfest-ing all night and every day beginning Monday, as part of the KISS star's collaborative party with chef Wolfgang Puck. The two are hosting their own version of the beloved beer-drinking holiday, Oktoberfest.
The week-long event at L.A. Live is described as "a rockin’ California tribute to the two centuries-old Bavarian tradition." It begins on Monday with a charity event where tickets starts at $107 per person and includes an "opening night charity jam featuring Gene Simmons and friends."
For the extremely wealthy, there is a single "Hall of Fame" package -- at a price not even listed -- that will buy you the opportunity to sing with Simmons on stage. A portion of the proceeds from the evening go towards the Wounded Warrior Project, a group that provides mental and physical health services to severely injured service members.
Rocktoberfest is put on by AEG, Puck, and Simmons' restaurant chain Rock & Brews, which he created with his two business partners; restaurateur Michael Zislis and concert promoter Dave Furano. Locally, there's a Rock & Brews in El Segundo which includes a massive patio, burger and beer menu and an abundance of rockstar paraphernalia. There is another location slated to open inside the renovated LAX.
Tuesday through Saturday general admission tickets to Rocktobergest are about $25 for entry and a beer stein; additional tickets to actually fill the beer stein or buy food can be purchased the day of. Puck's menu of Oktoberfest food include classics like wiener schnitzel with potato salad and Bavarian pretzels, along with surprising additions such as BBQ chicken quesadillas and chicken wings.
Highlights of the October 15 to 21 event includes the "Celebrity Jam Band," which features select members from bands such as Whitesnake and Guns 'N' Roses. For those who've had enough Belgium beer by the end of the week, there's a craft beer festival on Sunday that features California breweries from Stone to Strand, Golden Road and Eagle Rock.

Funny, I always thought that old Chaim Weitz would be more a fan of "Cold Gin" than Belgian suds.
