The King Eddy's last day of business is this Sunday Dec. 16.
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — As many of you may know by now, Downtown's King Eddy Saloon will be pouring its last pint this weekend. The family- owned bar on the outskirts of Skid Row has been bought by the developers behind Library Bar and Pizza Urbano, and will be reopened after they renovate.
In an attempt to commemorate the decades of drinking and camaraderie that the King Eddy has provided for many Downtowners, Blogdowntown is asking its readers to send in a paragraph describing their own favorite memory or anecdote about the bar... or, it can merely be something you'll miss about this particular saloon.
From the plexiglass indoor smoking section to the collection of neon beer signage, the early morning regulars and the late night lingerers, email hfox@blogdowntown.com with your own story about the bar.
Please include your name, age and a little bit about yourself and we will publish your story in a post about the bar later this week.

A couple years ago, I was at the King Eddy with my girlfriend, her son and his friend.
They had three boilermakers (beer with a shot of whisky), three scotch and sodas for me, two Budweiser ponies for her.
When she got the check, which would have been close to a George Washington with tip on the westside of Downtown. I think it was around thirty bucks.
