The Taste food court has signed two new restaurants as multiple others open their doors.

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Two new restaurants have signed leases for the 25,000-square-foot, indoor/outdoor food court located at the new Figueroa shopping complex, Figat7th. These additions, The Flying Pig and The Pizza Studio, are the latest eateries to joint the ranks of the "chef-driven," 500-seat dining area dubbed Taste.

The Flying Pig) began as a food truck and Little Tokyo restaurant. Its current menu includes Asian-inspired salads, burritos, ramen bowls and sandwiches. Highlights include the Crunchy Shrimp Po'Boy on baguette, the Crunchy Tofu in a Blanket burrito, and decadent variations of mac and cheese. According to a press release, The Pizza Studio cranks out specialty pizzas with a "unique variety of pizza crusts" and as an added bonus, customers who eat at the restaurant will be "supporting local food banks" as well as the Feeding America Foundation.

Both new restaurants are expected to open in 2013.

“Downtown’s renaissance has led to a strong demographic of residents, workers and visitors that are vested in supporting trendsetting, artisanal and cutting-edge culinary concepts,” said Ed Hogan, National Director of Retail Leasing for Brookfield Properties, the real estate company behind the $40 million Figat7th development.

Restaurants already up-and-running at Taste include recently opened The Melt, a grilled cheese sandwich shop, and George’s Greek Café, a Greek chain with two other locations already in Downtown.

Burger joint Juicy Lucy is soft training this week and will open on January 7 with a full menu that highlights burgers filled with "house-made cheese fondue." Indian restaurant Indus will also be open as of Monday. Oleego Korean BBQ has their official debut January 4.
