DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Twice a year, hungry Angelenos can reach out of their comfort zones (and price brackets) and try new restaurants as part of dineLA; an event where restaurants throughout the city offers specially-priced prix fixe lunch and dinner menus.
Restaurants in Whittier and Westwood, Redondo Beach and North Hollywood, are participating in this year's 12-day event which begins on January 21. Downtown L.A. currently has 29 restaurants participating in the upcoming event, offering lunches for $15, $20 or $25 and dinners for $25, $35 or $45.
Downtown institutions including Traxx at Union Station, Water Grill and Engine Co. No. 28 are offering meal deals as are newcomers including Umamicatessen and The Parish.
"It [dineLA] is an essential event for the dining community in Los Angeles, where exposure to the foodie public is the talk of the town,” said The Parish's Executive Chef, Casey Lane, in a statement. “I am also thrilled that dineLA is bringing so many people to the up-and-coming Downtown LA neighborhood. There is so much for people to discover here and dineLA’s Restaurant Week is the perfect excuse, a delicious one at that.”
This year's dineLA organizers are trying to indulge eaters' artistic side as well, with a Instagram contest that encourages people to take pictures of their favorite dishes, hashtag them with #dineLA and then post them to Instagram and for a chance at an "exclusive dining prize."
There are more than 250 restaurants across the city participating in this year's event, which begins January 21 and runs until February 1. Organizers suggest making reservations with the restaurants you plan on visiting, but walk-ins are also welcome.
