Morrissey is performing at the Staples Center on March 1 and for the occasion, the venue will be offering more vegetarian options.

Contrary to multiple media reports of Staples Center going completely vegetarian for the upcoming Morrissey concert, representatives for the Downtown venue announced today that they'd merely be adding vegetarian options for the singer's March 1 performance.

“As we have done in the past, we are happy to create a menu with a greater variety of vegetarian items for our guests who prefer these types of options,” said Lee Zeidman, Sr. vice president and general manager of Staples Center and L.A. Live, in a statement.

Morrissey is a longtime vegetarian who even penned a song (and album) dubbed "Meat is Murder" with his previous band The Smiths.

For his sold-out concert next month, Staples will be serving an abundance of meatless dishes including Vegan Sloppy Joes, Grilled Veggie Sandwiches, Veggie Burgers, Veggie Wraps, Pasta, salads and more veg venue standards.

“We respect Morrissey’s lifestyle and his concern for the wishes of so many of his fans and are happy that we are able to honor his requests in this manner,” said Zeidman.

According to a press release from Staples, management will also be reaching out to L.A. Live restaurants asking them to add special vegetarian options to their menus for the occasion, and they will also be offering PETA the chance to set-up an information booth on the main concourse at the venue.

All catering served backstage at the concert will be vegetarian.

But previous media reports cited a statement from Morrissey's camp as saying that the Downtown venue would be going entirely vegetarian for his show, halting the sale of all-things-meat and even keeping the McDonald's inside shuttered for the evening.

A media representative for Staples said in an email that they are still "in talks" with McDonald's about whether they will be open for the show or not. No decision has been made one way or another.

Although Staples Center is taking a more moderate approach to the evening, they continue to win over vegetarian hearts lately as PETA also named the venue the "Most Vegetarian-Friendly NBA Arena" last week.

According to PETA's website: "With vegan sloppy Joes, a veggie burger, vegan sushi, a grilled veggie sandwich, and a hummus-and-pita plate, the STAPLES Center's vegetarian concessions are a slam dunk for fans, no matter which team they're rooting for."

Also scheduled to perform with Morrissey on March 1 is Patti Smith.
