DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Mendocino Farms is the newest in a series of restaurants and eateries to open at Downtown's Figat7th shopping complex. This sandwich shop will start serving next week, and joins the ranks of other new additions to the Taste food court including burger joint Juicy Lucy and Oleego Korean BBQ.
According to a press release, the new restaurant 's design will feature "natural elements with a refined flair" and include "turf-covered benches, brasserie chalk-art, and an open kitchen showcasing fresh artisan breads and sandwich making."
Mendocino Farm's spring specials include a turkey confit sandwich with green papaya slaw, and a mac n’ cheese sandwich with a double dose of bacon. But the restaurant also has a whole vegan section on their menu that includes a BBQ torta made with seitan, and pressed tofu banh mi.
According to the restaurant's website: "Mendocino Farms pays tribute to the county in Northern California that is known for its support of the Slow Food Movement and Sustainable Farming. This area is famous for its unpretentious "down home" love for artisan food and drink. It is our inspiration!"
The team behind this casual eatery also owns and operates Blue Cow on Grand Avenue; an upscale, American-style restaurant that remains focused on sandwich/salad menu.
