A frenzy of taco tasting peaks this weekend at Grand Park
Taco Madness takes place tomorrow at Grand Park.
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Show me an Angeleno who doesn't know a quality taco from a stand-in, and I'll show you someone who hasn't lived in L.A. very long.
This weekend Grand Park is hosting a taco-palooza (they're calling it Taco Madness) -- for all those people with discerning taco taste buds and for those who hungry people just looking to eat.
The Saturday festival begins at noon and goes until sunset, and is a culmination of a multi-week taco competition put on by L.A. Taco. This website began an online bracket that pitted 32 of L.A.'s most beloved restaurants, stands and trucks against each other.
Voters were encouraged to venture out to the different places, conduct their own taste test and then vote for their favorite.
Taco prices start at $1 each, and you can wash down that snack with something from the beer garden courtesy of Cerveza Indio and DTLA's own La Cita bar. There will also be DJs all day and live mural painting.
And for an added incentive to take public transit to the event, anyone who shows a valid TAP card (or Metro employee or LA County employee ID) at the Jarritos booth, gets a free drink.
