Filming and Traffic Closures: Do the Building Managers Sign Off?

There’s another filming notice outside my building today that mentions lane closures. If you recall I last week asked how we can believe the Mayor’s talk of fixing traffic while at the same time the city allows filming to block traffic lanes during peak hours. This notice says that the eastside curb lane and two adjacent lanes could be closed any time in a three day or so span, from 5am to 10pm. That eastside lane is the contraflow bus lane that carries roughly 90 buses per hour during peak periods.

But what really got me on this notice was the bit you see sometimes that says “Pending Community Survey”. At first I sort of gave it the “Yeah right, I’ll never see a questionaire” response, but then instead I took a look at the EIDC site for some answers. Any filming or setup/takedown activity outside of 7am - 10pm requires surveying. In a multi-unit building a manager can sign the approval for the entire building. There’s a seperate survey form for parking restrictions and street closures, but I’m less clear on whether those always have to be distributed.

And so my question becomes, are all the property managers in the area just blanket signing off on these questionaires? Tomorrow I think I’m going to go have a talk with my building manager and see what he says they give him.
