Pig n' Whistle Looking for a Homecoming?
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES —
The Downtown News this week looks at new eateries looking at Downtown and includes a bit on the Pig ‘n Whistle looking at spots on 7th:
Others hunting around in the district include the proprietors of the famed Pig ‘n Whistle pub, who are looking to open a location on Seventh Street - possibly in the Fine Arts Building. The Hollywood Boulevard restaurant has a hopping bar scene and eclectic menu.
The Downtown News completely missed the interesting part, though – the Pig ‘n Whistle used to be in the Fine Arts Building. Ever since I saw the sign in this USC Digital Archives photo I’ve thought it would be amazing to see the restaurant return.

Eric, that’s awesome news! I love it when history comes full circle.. if that makes any sense.
Imagine someday hopping on a swanky new/old Red Car to hit your favorite watering hole.. The Pig! I hope this happens.
By the way, I know how nuts you are about maps. How about an interactive Downtown restaurant and bar map? New stuff seems to be opening up all the time down there, and for those of us stuck in the Valley, it’d be cool to know what part of the hood to check out.
Keep up the great work on BDT.
The Pig & Whistle also had a Broadway location just south of Seventh, the photo is in the USC archive.
Does any archive show bakery recipes from the original Pig? i.e. The racetrack coffee cake?
