Constructing Briskly

717 W. 9th Eric Richardson

If you haven’t peeked in on Meruelo Maddox’s residential development at 717 W. 9th, work has been happening quickly. This past weekend Sean reported an entire brigade of cement trucks lining up for a foundation pour (fridayinla posted some good shots of that over on the SkyscraperPage Forum). There’s even the foundation for a crane as the building gets ready to head skyward.

As much as I dislike bringing up cases where I was wrong, I sure called it poorly back in November when I was skeptical they were really about to break ground. In hindsight I was pretty misguided. I thought the equipment being staged might be for Concerto, but here we are five months later and Astani’s still just got a hole in the ground.

Update (Friday): In the body is a shot of the crane being erected.

Yesterday and today they've been assembling the building's construction crane:

Never be ashamed or loath to admit error. It only enhances credibility.

All will be forgiven if you can find out the latest on why the Concerto development site appears to be dead-in-the-water right now.
