Closing Windows Produces a Slew of Bad Facts
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Eater LA ran a piece earlier today noting that Windows restaurant would be closing July 31st. Located at the top of the AT&T Center in South Park, Windows had amazing views of Downtown and the westside. The restaurant’s food never quite matched the view.
Unfortunately Eater isn’t quite up to speed on the Downtown landscape:
It supposedly has a rockin’ happy hour, but the food was basic steakhouse fare and didn’t wow anyone. As far as we know, at 32-stories up, it was the highest restaurant in LA.
Actually, the 35th floor of the Bonaventure Hotel is home to LA Prime. Windows’ view was better, but LA Prime is higher. The City Club on Bunker Hill should also be mentioned at 54-floors up, though it is a members-only affair.
Kevin Roderick picks up the item at LA Observed and writes:
Windows Steaks & Martinis, the restaurant with the amazing views atop what’s now called the At&T Center, closes July 31. There has been talk of the office building going residential. Workers got the news this week, Eater LA reports.
There was talk of the tower going residential, but that was completely quashed when AT&T (then SBC) moved their offices in perhaps two years ago.
Update (9pm): Or perhaps no new restaurant… They’re saying it’s actually going to be high end business suites. I find that choice a little odd.
Comments
Oh, too bad Windows in closing! The view was unlike anywhere else. Much better than at LA Prime in my opinion. However, I’ve never eaten there, just finger food and drinks. I need to make sure to hit up some happy hours before it closes!
Disappointing news. The food isn’t incredible, but it’s a great place for a beautiful city view and elegant evening. It’s ok though… many more exciting restaurants on the horizon. Goodbye Windows, it was fun while it lasted.
No no no, They just changed their name to Vista …
