<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ericrichardson/355030784/" "> While Angelique Cafe has expressed an interest in adding dinner hours, it's probably a good thing they didn't have them this afternoon. A car traveling northbound on Main street strayed from the roadway a bit ago and struck the eatery on its eastern face. The blow appears to have been glancing, though, as no structural damage was suffered, except that to a damaged roll-down door. If I had to guess I'd say that they'll be open for business as normal tomorrow.

Before you get too excited, the picture is from calmer days back in January. I walked by just now with cell phone camera ready, but there wasn’t much to show in a picture. The offending car was still on scene, but un-excitingly situated on the street.

Thanks to Ben for reporting the situation.

I think this one can be chalked up to a driver gone bonkers in a haywire traffic situation this evening reportedly due to a 'suspicious package' which caused the closure of Hill between Sixth and Seventh right before 5p.

Getting from Flower and Sixth to Main and Ninth took the better part of 25 minutes because of the snarl of buses and gridlock. Walking would have been faster.

This is why you can't shut down traffic for filming (often called Intermittent Traffic Control, or ITC) during morning and evening rush hours anywhere in Central City.

I spotted a few news helicopters which seemed to respect safe altitudes over the Historic Core.
