Downtown Finds a Rainbow

Views of the Rainbow

Saturday evening’s rainstorm brought an amazing rainbow to the area, and Downtown’s bloggers did an amazing job of capturing it. Catching up on my RSS feeds after a busy couple of days I found not one, not two, not three, but four different rainbow posts. I think that’s amazing.

One of the things that really struck me out of February’s Broadway fire was how fascinating it was when various Downtowners photographed the same event. It’s that great sense of seeing a scene through different eyes, and is something that we’re planning on trying to play more with in the upcoming months.

Photos by Don Garza (#1), Ed Fuentes (#2 and #5), Bert Green (#3 and #6), and Eric of White Boy/White Dog (#4).

I was at the Coliseum watching the Trojans beat down the Cougars (FYI I am not a USC alum) when the full rainbow appeared over the stadium, end to end, from the north side of the stadium to the south (I had end-zone seats). It was pretty amazing, wish I’d photographed it. It was like God was blessing the football game (unless you’re a Washington State Cougar, of course).

Yeah, I was there watching the beating too and the view was pretty incredible. A full rainbow stretched across the entire sky with the Coliseum strangely blanketed in a perfect split of bright sunshine and dark cloud cover. I’ve seen a few pictures of it, I’ll be sure to save it and send it over to Eric when I find it.

Eric- great job on the “mosaic” of rainbows. It is cool seeing it from so many vantage points (some pics show a “double rainbow” but I did not see that). I also enjoy your downtown photography and blogging.
