Spring Street Park opens today; city officials announce more DTLA open space

The new 0.7-acre Spring Street Park debuted today and the new space includes a grassy lawn and a playground for toddlers. At the ribbon-cutting, Mayor Villaraigosa announced plans for another new park coming to 1st and Broadway.

Bus driver killed in Downtown crash identified as 13-year Metro veteran

Olivia Gamboa, 47, was killed on Wednesday after the bus she was driving collided with a tow truck near the intersection of 5th Street and Broadway in downtown L.A. Her husband and daughter are also Metro bus operators.

Tow truck, Metro bus collide near 5th and Broadway in DTLA; 1 dead, 2 hurt

This morning around 5:10 a.m., a Metro bus and tow truck collided in Downtown, sending the tow truck crashing through a 7-Eleven convenience store. The bus driver, a 35-year-old woman, has died.

Ella Moss and Splendid have opened a new, two-story corporate headquarters at Downtown's Alameda Square. Their debut is only one part of a massive overhaul planned for the 1.4 million-square-foot industrial compound.

Stretch of the LA River now open for walking, kayaking this summer

A 2.5-mile portion of the L.A. River near downtown L.A. is now open for recreational use for the first time since the 1930s. This trial program may be used as a model for future revitalization of the rest of the river.
