Union Station master plan to prioritize transit over development

Ace Hotel sets fall 2013 opening date for new DTLA location
— 10 CommentsAlthough few project updates have been released, according to the hip Ace's twitter account they will be opening their new Broadway digs in fall 2013. The hotel is being built in the historic United Artists building.

Husband and wife team opens design store in Arts District
— 1 CommentThe couple has been collecting home goods together for more than 16 years and have now opened a residential design store in DTLA. Items range from $9 playing cards designed by Shepard Fairey, to designer sofas that cost thousands.

Streetcar supporters return from Washington after rallying for federal funds
A group of streetcar supporters including councilman José Huizar went to Washington D.C. last week to try and secure federal funding for the streetcar project. They will be applying for a transportation grant in the next two months.

Broadway to become a whole lot brighter with grants for new facade lighting

Rotating chef residency at DTLA eatery kicks off with a menu of LA-inspired food

US Bank building to be sold to investment group in Singapore
The U.S. Bank building in DTLA is the tallest building west of the Mississippi. After financial struggles, the towering structure is being sold to an investment group in Singapore.

City awards design firm $30 millon contract for new 6th Street Bridge
— 16 CommentsL.A. City Council approved a contract this week for the HNTB design firm to redo the 6th Street Bridge. The firm won the project last year after the city decided the current, historic bridge had to be replaced due to structural issues.

Hotel development continues at LA Live with plans for a new Marriott
— 17 CommentsThe push for hotel development in DTLA continues, as AEG announced this week they will be selling a 60,000-square-foot plot of land to be developed into a Marriott. This new Renaissance Hotel is expected to have 450 rooms.

City Council commits to 30 years of funding DTLA streetcar
— 3 CommentsLast year DTLA voters passed a parcel tax to help pay for a new streetcar. This week, the L.A. City Council has committed to do their part by funding operations and maintenance of the streetcar for the next three decades.
