DTLA dining updates: Gluten-free burgers, French entrees and a new Fatburger

Mignon wine bar has expanded their menu to include french entrees and appetizers, and The Counter has rolled out a gluten-free menu that includes milkshakes and beer. The hamburger chain Fatburger has just opened doors on Figueroa.

South Park to get new Girl Scout troops (which means more Girl Scout cookies) this fall

The Girl Scouts are coming to DTLA this fall and organizers are hosting an informational meeting this month for anyone interested. The Scouts will start meeting in the 2013-2014 school year, coinciding with the debut of a new charter school.

City officials ask Supreme Court to overturn homeless possession injunction

Attorneys for the City of Los Angeles have filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court seeking to overturn a lower court injunction that prevents the seizure and destruction of possessions that homeless people leave on sidewalks.

Vigil to be held today in DTLA for Canadian woman found dead at Cecil Hotel

The Downtown Clergy Council is hosting a candlelight vigil on Tuesday in front of the Cecil Hotel to honor the Canadian woman who was found dead in the water tank there earlier this week.

Cell, wi-fi service may be coming to a light rail line near you

Metro is considering a contract that would make cell service and wi-fi available at select stations and underground portions of the light-rail lines. If it's approved, it could take up to two years to get the equipment installed.

Downtown's Grand Park continues to expand its roster of events; this time, with a BookFest scheduled for next week. The all-day event includes readings, arts and crafts, pop-up bookstores, DJs and of course, food trucks.
