Spring Street bike lane poised for a paint job despite film industry concerns

Downtown councilman José Huizar has introduced a motion to have the peeling Spring Street bike lane painted once again. These green lanes are supposed to increase driver awareness, but the film industry thinks the color makes it difficult to shoot there.

Peddler's Creamery now open for business on Main Street

Although Peddler's Creamery is now officially parked in DTLA, the bicycle-powered ice cream shop still highlights cycling in the store's design and logistics. The Main Street ice cream shop opened quietly last week.

A frenzy of taco tasting peaks this weekend at Grand Park

Angelenos know their tacos, and right now they're in the process of voting on the best ones in the city. The competition culminates on Saturday in DTLA's expansive Grand park, with taco trucks, DJs, a beer garden and live mural-painting.

Recycle to ride: Metrolink offers ticket trade for unwanted goods

Grand Central Market begins transformation with debut of Sticky Rice Thai food

Downtown's Grand Central Market continues to be updated with new eateries as part of its massive makeover to become a more modern open air food market. Sticky Rice, an "authentic" Thai restaurant, is part of this change and is now serving lunch.

Grand Park director pushes for lower film fees to be 'good neighbor' to Hollywood

Grand Park is working with the L.A. County Board of Supervisors to negotiate a new rate for film studios who want to use the public park. The director of the Grand Park says they won't sacrifice public use of the land for the sake of money.

Chinatown 'Dim Sum Crawl' includes craft beer pairings

Team of Downtown LAPD officers to run in 120 mile race to Las Vegas

This weekend, droves of LAPD officers will head out to the desert to compete in, cheer on or celebrate the "Baker to Vegas" race. This overnight relay run pits teams of law enforcement officials against each other -- and ends in a big Vegas party.

LA government access TV station moves headquarters to Olvera Street theater

Government access TV station Channel 35 — where City Council meetings are aired live —is moving its headquarters to the historic Pico House Merced Theater. City officials say this will also allow for a much needed modernization of the facilities.

Figueroa Corridor project pushes forward with 2014 deadline looming

In order to secure the necessary funds for the overhaul of Figueroa and surrounding streets, all work must be completed by 2014. On Tuesday at a community meeting, organizers released updated renderings to a packed room.
