Federal health officials arrive in LA to help with TB investigation

Officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention arrived in L.A. on Monday to help local agencies investigate a particular strain of TB that has surfaced on Skid Row.

LA Conservancy releases 2013 'Last Remaining Seats' line-up

In what seems like further proof that summer is not too far away, the L.A. Conservancy has released the line-up of films for their annual movie series "Last Remaining Seats" which begins June 1.

DTLA dining updates: Gluten-free burgers, French entrees and a new Fatburger

Mignon wine bar has expanded their menu to include french entrees and appetizers, and The Counter has rolled out a gluten-free menu that includes milkshakes and beer. The hamburger chain Fatburger has just opened doors on Figueroa.

The Girl Scouts are coming to DTLA this fall and organizers are hosting an informational meeting this month for anyone interested. The Scouts will start meeting in the 2013-2014 school year, coinciding with the debut of a new charter school.

City officials ask Supreme Court to overturn homeless possession injunction

Attorneys for the City of Los Angeles have filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court seeking to overturn a lower court injunction that prevents the seizure and destruction of possessions that homeless people leave on sidewalks.

Vigil to be held today in DTLA for Canadian woman found dead at Cecil Hotel

The Downtown Clergy Council is hosting a candlelight vigil on Tuesday in front of the Cecil Hotel to honor the Canadian woman who was found dead in the water tank there earlier this week.

Health official: 'This outbreak of TB is not a threat to the public at large'

The L.A. County Department of Health said there's no evidence that this strain of TB is more virulent than any other, and overall TB rates across the county and the country have actually decreased.
