Technical Docs on Grand Ave Plans
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — If you're like me, and the plans for Grand Ave. tend to leave you confused as to what exactly is going where and when certain things are happening, it can be good to get all that in one place. While it may not be the friendliest of documents, the report the CRA recently submitted to City Council (1.3MB PDF) is definitely thorough. Lots of information about funding sources, government commitments, various stages of the project, etc.
Block Q, the parking structure just across Grand from Disney Hall, is the first phase. What I'm really excited for, though, is the eventual development of the parcels called L and M2 (the parking lots just south of Disney Hall, on the level of lower Grand). I haven't heard anything about plans to try and better connect upper and lower Grand, but I would think something to that effect would have to come out of this. A year or so ago a cousin of mine from New York came Downtown to go to MOCA and got pretty confused trying to figure out where the museum was. Turns out he was below it. He and a friend had to climb the embankment up toward Disney Hall to eventually get to their destination.

Eric,
I have had this experience , especially when I am out by the red line station
at the civic center. Peolle can't seem to find the Walt Disney Concert Hall , 1, It is is huidden by the trees in the parking lot and the PArking structure on Grand and
2 you hve to look up and walk up a hill.
I think someone needs to make it easier for folks to find their destinations esp. tourists.
Tourists ,I have noticed tourist usually begin their touring from 7th and flower and really don't make it beyond 5th street , they miss the Cathedral Completely for the simple fact that the music center and civic center can't be seen behind the tall office structures.
I think what needs to be done is put a sign on the wall across from the entrance to the 1st and hill station , so that folks know where to go as soon as they come up to the surface.from the subway

Just today while riding the DASH to Union Station I saw the first I've noticed that are Civic Center blue. Those seem like they'll do a great job in helping to get people around Downtown.
I'm particularly interested to see the maps that are supposed to be coming with the program... So far I've just seen signs (both for vehicles and peds). -e;
