Downtown Gold

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — The Downtown Center BID's current newsletter, oddly on the web in image form, tells that the BID has secured funding for Huell Howser to do twenty-six episodes of his show California Gold featuring Downtown.

The Downtown Center Business Improvement District has been busy raising sponsorship dollars for LA's public television icon, Huell Howser of KCET. Last fall, Hal Bastian, Vice President & Director of Economic Development for the DCBID was introduced to Mr. Howser by Tom Gilmore with Gilmore Associates and Sue Laris, Publisher of the Los Angeles Downtown News. Huell had a very exciting idea: to produce 26 episodes about Downtown LA to appear on KCET and Channel 35. The production will cost a total of $240,000 and will kick-off in January 2006. I remember Hal mentioning a while back that he was working on this. Great to see that it's actually happening.
