Historic Theaters to Host Film and Opera

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Perhaps someday, when more restoration work has been done and a business model worked out, chances to get inside the historic theaters that line Broadway will come all the time. These days, though, you have to take advantage of the ones you find. Two upcoming events offer the chance of a great theater experience.

On January 13th the LA Theatre Organ Society hosts a screening of Metropolis at the Orpheum as part of their Wurlitzer Weekend. Tickets are only $20 only $15.

Farther down the line, in April the Lyric Opera of Los Angeles hosts six performances of the 19th-century opera "Manon Lescaut" at the Los Angeles Theatre. Tickets start at just $10, and run up to $30. Check their website for more information or for ticket ordering information.
