Though these are not Fire Department operations, and I can't address the early morning hours...

I've been told the choice of weekends is largely due to the lack of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

As for the choice of hour... well, I'll leave that to someone far more knowledgeable. If perchance you wish to voice your concerns, you might wish to contact your City Councilmember, as I am told these closures do require some municipal approval.

This sounds like a recurring nightmare I've been having.

You see, there's this chopper flying in the mornings as well,

it wakes me up, it muffles my tv during the afternoon, it makes my

dining table rattle during dinner, it's a nightmare, it's a

chopper, it's, it's the Police Headquarters Facility right

outside of my window!

Musta been something in the air.

This morning they were jackhammering the sidewalk outside my window at the Pacific Electric Building. By the time I got up and looked out the window, the entire sidewalk (I guess in the back of the building, along L.A. Street) was nothing but a pile of rubble. Who knows how long it had been there? They cut down the giant trees along this piece of sidewalk a few weeks ago, but the stumps are still in place. Oh well, I guess we're getting a new sidewalk. That's actually a very good thing.
