Pedestrian Lights for 7th Street in the Historic Core
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Somehow I missed that a lighting district on 7th Street has been working its way through the bureaucratic process. Last week Council approved the district, which will run down 7th Street from Hill to Wall, on Los Angeles between 7th and 8th and on Maple between 6th and 7th. 33 pedestrian lights are scheduled to be installed, but I'm not sure on a timetable.
This is a good start, but eventually attention needs to be paid all the way out 7th to the Greyhound station.
Here's a summary of the district's path through Council and the Council action document from February (PDF).

How about Greyhound relocating to a more convenient downtown location, as it had in the past?
# on May.11.2006 AT 09:00 AMAbsolutely. I can't imagine a more inconvenient and inhospitable and isolated location. What was Greyhound thinking? What was the city thinking when allowed this to happen? Somewhere near Union Station makes so much more sense.

I can't imagine the horrific impression of L.A. by people who have never been here arriving at that disgusting Greyhound bunker.
The newish facility they have in Hollywood on Cahuenga is much better. Picture that type of facility, only much bigger.
