Chopper Training

Touch and Go Eric Richardson

Walking into City Hall last night for a DLANC Arts Committee meeting I noticed a pair off helicoptors flying tight turns to the north. I was a few minutes early for the meeting, so I headed up to the observation deck.

Turns out the two were Army helicoptors practicing touch and go landings on two buildings just to the east of City Hall. I talked to a janitor who was up cleaning and he said they do this pretty frequently, and that's it's coolest when they're coming in at night.

The craziest move was when they would come in really low up Los Angeles (below building level) and then pull up to make it to the top of City Hall East.

I was at the Standard Rooftop last night celebrating my birthday. There were at least 8 helicopters flying from building to building doing awesome maneuvers! Touch and Go, climbing nose up, diving, the noise was incredible. Very Mission Immpossible style. I couldn't figure out why so many helicopters were around. At first I was hoping that it could be Trump and his entourage planning on a new building downtown. Oh well, you never know.

i think saw 2 of them on the return flight 'cos the timing would be about right. they were flying roughly north over the brewery arts complex.

If any BlogDowntown readers would like to see some of these helicopters up close, and speak with representatives from such agencies as FBI and Secret Service as well as the usual Fire and Rescue agencies, please join us this Saturday in Lakeview Terrace at the American Heroes Air Show.

NOT SO COOL IF IT'S OUTSIDE your window. Nor is it cool when they're in a holding pattern outside your place. Ok I'm done. AFS
