Hidden Green Space

Hidden Green Space Eric Richardson

Downtown has a lack of public green space, but even some of the space we do have is hidden away, tucked between buildings.

This is both a blessing and a curse. It's great to find these spaces unexpectedly and to be able to enjoy them, but it's also a shame to see them hidden away where most people will never know.

Pictured is a green space that I had never seen until this weekend. Behind a stone archway sits a small tree-shaded lawn with stone benches. Flowers ring the space. It's not visible from the street, but it's open to the public. Can you name where this hidden green space is located?

Update (5:30pm): Two hours and no guesses... Either no one knows or no one cares. First hint: It's in the Civic center.

Update (11pm): DrBoris got it right. The lawn -- which you can see via Google Maps here -- is between the Roybal Federal Building and the Metropolitan Detention Center.

Yeah, I think this is next to the Roybal bldg. It is very hidden and the jail overlooks it (nice).

Correct. The little lawn sits between the Roybal Federal Building and the Metro Detention Center. It's back behind the puzzling "metal fighting people full of holes" sculpture.
