Applauding Good Signage
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Not too recently the Pan American Lofts got the signage repainted on its northern face. While I may not be entirely sold on the ground-floor paint, I love this signage.
The execution of the signage is simple. It has yellow lettering with a black outline against the building’s tan paint. Everything about it says history.
I don’t have a picture, but I have the same love for the signage on the Douglas Building. Simple, black, and very reflective of the building’s age.
I give both buildings A+ grades on these two efforts.

The Pan American sign is a re-paint of what had faded before the building was restored. Here's a 'before' shot taken from the west side last June. http://flickr.com/photos/13919756@N00/185987715/in/set-72157594192491419/
