Protesting Myspace?

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — I happened by the youth protest at City Hall today and stopped to see what the brought the extraordinary LAPD presence. Turns out they just didn’t quite know what to expect and decided they’d rather be safe than sorry. At the point I was there the officers were just standing in the shade waiting until they could leave.

Standing there with Ed Fuentes watching the kids up there yelling away I had to laugh when I noticed there was a myspace URL printed on the banner. Protests have myspace? Kids these days…

And that was funny because … ? I gather from what they wrote ABOVE the (hilarious?) myspace url that they were demonstrating about something remotely important to them. But hey, why post about what they are actually saying? Let’s just post a picture and laugh at them because …um … they use the internet? Bloggers these days.

I’d actually be surprised if they weren’t using MySpace. Lots of details about marches and other actions are spread rapidly through a simple MySpace bulletin.
