Toppled

Tree Down on 6th Anthony Santana sends in proof that the wind is more than just water-cooler material even here in Downtown. This shot shows a street tree that’s toppled over on 6th between Hope and Grand.

With the poor condition of street trees Downtown we can hardly afford to lose one to wind. Anyone want to take bets on how long the planter remains empty before a new tree gets put in?

The howling wind has been providing plenty of conversation fodder here in the office this afternoon, mostly drifting toward the topic of the building’s many creaks.

I was on the 720 bus when a tree toppled over just after we had passed it. The bus driver let out a howl as I guess she saw it through the rear view mirror. I was standing at the front of the bus ready to disembark on Broadway . We had just left that Rapid bus Stop. She just couldn't believe how close that tree came to hitting the bus. It fell over after we passed. Couple of seconds and it would have hit the bus. I didn't take my camera out with me today. What a dummy, but someone got the picture.

A tree smashed the back window of a car on Olympic and Flower as well. Pretty nasty.

The planter will remain empty for at least a year but maybe it will speed up getting the rest of the trees Downtown pruned.

That fallen tree created major gridlock that day as I was going home -- I hate trees! (Not Really)
