DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Almost two weeks ago I mentioned the hole on Flower between 7th and 8th. At the time it was protected by a “Wet Floor” cone. Four days ago I noted that it’s still there, and this time had a skinny orange pole sticking up. Other times it’s had absolutely nothing warning drivers that trouble was ahead.

Today, though, the hole is protected by a phalanx of warning, with no less than six flashing barriers surrounding it. There’s been no work to fix the problem, but perhaps this time they’ve settled on a suitable form of notice.
