Film LA Cracks Down on Downtown Filming

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Local favorite Film LA has been scrambling in recent weeks. Increasing filming and some particularly egregious acts led to DLANC coordinating an effort to take a look at Downtown filming and what conditions need to be imposed upon it. That effort has been moving forward and making significant progress.

Not waiting for that project to take its course, Film LA has put out some Downtown regulations of its own. You can find them in PDF form on their site. Aside from the PDF making it sound like Film LA is making these changes of their own free will, the rules are a good start toward making filming a better neighbor. The eventual community guidelines will encompass a broader range of issues.

The original PDF that went out contained one head-scratcher that's since been corrected:

6: A Film L.A. monitor will now be required for all activity in the Old Bank District, bordered by 2nd, Spring, Hill, and Main Streets.

As I just said in an email, that's one heck of a district. Don't try to fence your dog in with that kind of boundary work.
