Speaking Art Walk DASH Ed Fuentes

Big certificates and a modest ceremony highlighted the July 12 Downtown Art Walk as the City of LA offered DLANC's Russell Brown and Eric Richardson, along with Art Walk Organizer and gallery owner Bert Green, its congratulations. 14th District Councilmember José Huizar, Maria Rumsey from Jan Perry's office, and LAPD Captain Jodi Wakefield spoke before the official inaugural run of the Arts Walk DASH.

After the ceremony quite a few of the participants piled in the DASH, filling it for a victory lap around the Historic Core. Tom Gilmore, after denying a suggestion that this might be his first time on a DASH bus, opined that the vehicle really needed a hot tub and a bar in the back.

Later in the evening some riders saw a new gallery, Art Slave, at 216 S Spring St. and got off to take a look. That small gallery, between 2nd and 3rd St, would have been off the path of most Art Walk goers, but those on the DASH got to take a swing past and notice that they were there.

I went to the ArtWalk last night with friends and had a great time! We had dinner at 626 Reserve on the patio from 8pm-9:15pm and saw the DASH shuttle drive by countless times. I was disappointed that there was really no one using it. I hope it become more successful. When the El Dorado and Rowan Lofts open early next year (among others), we should see a boost!

DASH is my favorite thing about LADOT, honestly. This ArtWalk DASH shuttle is cool but I wish they'd bring back the Holly Trolley.

That pretty much did have a bar in back... although no hot tub.
