'Expect Delays'

1st will be closed Ed Fuentes

The ongoing MTA Gold Line Construction will detour eastbound traffic on First St between Alameda and Vignes on August 6,7,13 and 14 from 7pm to 6am, according to these signs (However, if you go to the website, the MTA press release says closures will be from 6pm to 6am.)

It's also important for Downtowners to know that studios are concerned about an possible WGA strike, so summer filming is heavier than usual Downtown. Yesterday, while the Victory Outreach march was held on Main St, Figueroa at 5th was packed with film crews. Shooting will continue in that same area for the next several days with different productions. The streets include Flower at 3rd, the 2nd St Tunnel at Figueroa and Hill, and Figueroa/Flower at 7th.

As for the march, many Main St merchants considered the alternative protest route well planned with plenty of notice given. But walking back to the Arts District, I saw there were no LADOT signs posting info about a delay in bus service caused by the march and a lot of people were stranded at DASH stops in Little Tokyo and the Arts District for well over an hour. The march wasn't big enough to give a visual warning.
