No More Camille's
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — I can't say that I was all too surprised to walk outside today and find that the Camille's at 7th & Hope closed up within the last few days. The cafe opened in the summer of 2005 as an example of the new healthier food options moving into Downtown, but had never struck me as being particularly well managed.
If you checked out the hours on the door recently, you might have seen signs that this move was coming. Hours running from 7-5 had been crossed out and replaced with 8-4. At one point there was a different sign situated next to this one that had another different set of hours on it, leaving the confused would-be patron left guessing. This wasn't an isolated incident either, back in January of 2006 they had resumed Saturday hours, but their door proclaimed them closed.
The cafe does leave behind a well built-out space, so hopefully someone else can come along and benefit from a reduced time to open.

Speaking of closings. I went by Angeliques on Sunday and they were closed. They have been opened on Sundays for over a year now (I thoight) and I have eaten there on severl Sundays this summer. This is one of the frustrating things about downtown - how places never keep consistent hours. Too bad. Anyone know the story behind this?
# on Aug.06.2007 AT 02:47 PMthat has happened pretty often lately. It's kinda hit or miss on the hours and really hasn't been the same since it was sold, be a shame to see this fall too. Tierra cafe is a great alternative, good hours, good food and free table silver dollars. Speaking of closing has trifect closed already????
# on Aug.06.2007 AT 04:16 PMwe walked by trifecta on friday night and it was bumpin...
# on Aug.06.2007 AT 06:11 PMTiara Cafe is great. I love having brunch there on the weekends. I walked past angeliques on Sunday morning as well and noticed that it was closed. I was also confused. It would be great if restaurants would post their current hours online so that people could check them without having to call everytime they want to go there just to make sure that they are open.
# on Aug.06.2007 AT 09:35 PMCamille's had no clue how to run a restaurant. They had terrible service and a strange menu. Hopefully we'll see something better.
# on Aug.07.2007 AT 11:39 AMDoes not bode well for the supposed Restaurant Row they want to create over there...
