DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — All this week Angel City Press comes in from Santa Monica to host book signings at the Central Library. Authors of Angel City publications will be hanging out in the Library store today through Friday, noon to 1:30pm. You can find the schedule of authors on their calendar.
If you haven’t done so already (or even if you have), this would be a perfect occasion to also stop by the Library’s Getty Gallery and spend some time looking at Julius Shulman’s Los Angeles, which runs until January 20, 2008.
Also remember that a Wednesday trip would let you visit the Financial District Farmers Market, one of Downtown’s six such markets. The Library-adjacent one is located on the 5th street side and runs from 11:30am to 3pm.

while you are there, you can also catch one of the daily free docent-led walking tours at 12:30pm. they start right outside the bookstore.
# on Dec.03.2007 AT 12:09 PMGood call, Jim. I haven’t done one of those. Maybe I’ll follow both our advice and wander over this week to check one out.
# on Dec.03.2007 AT 12:28 PMIt hasn’t gotten much publicity - but on every Tuesday at 12:30 there is a “gallery talk” on the Shulman exhibit. The talk today was about 3o minutes long and was presented by Christopher James Alexander, co-curator of the exhibit. Mr. Alexander’s expertise greatly increased my understanding and enjoyment of the exhibit.
