Two Events and a Review for Your Midweek Art Fix
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Two notable midweek Downtown art events events and one review deserve a mention.
Tonight, Santee Village has an opening reception for Deigo Cardoso's show in the complex. Cardoso is a planner for Metro by day and an artist by night. The show includes fifty paintings and metal works. Tonight's opening reception runs 6:30 to to 8pm, slightly overlapping with the Fashion District Farmers Market (which runs 4 - 7pm).
Tomorrow, from 1 to 6pm Crewest hosts "I am Legend," a live painting battle to be held on Winston. Artists will be competing for cash prizes. Pictured is Crewest's Man One, painting at October's Festival de la Gente.
And finally, a review. The LA Times today gives strong marks to the Monday Evening Concerts series debut at Colburn (previewed here). I have to ask, does all music review read like this?
Likewise, the solo in "Eonta," which was impressively tackled by Eric Heubner, is not for pianists fearful of insanely complex fractions. The brass, meanwhile, blare like animals baying at the moon. The players raise their bells to the ceiling. They wander to the piano and blow down toward its strings, which absorb the powerful vibrations. An inexplicable rite, full of rage and fury, is enacted.
