Saturday's ShootDowntown Meetup was a great success, and I want to thank everyone who came out. Sixteen of us met up at Arda's Cafe and then wandered Downtown talking history and photography. The group included a few of the usual suspects, but also new folks who just heard about the meetup through grapevine and came out to walk around and take pictures with us.

Lots of shots are showing up in the blogdowntown pool and tagged shootdowntown1 on flickr. Later on this week we'll be going back through the uploaded shots and putting together a gallery of favorites from the day.

The plan is for this sort of photo meetup to be a regular thing, perhaps happening every quarter, so if you missed this one you won't have to wait too long for another chance.

DON'T FORGET: Bloggers on Ice is tonight. We'll be showing up at the rink around 6:30pm.

With the exception of having to walk up that one hill, I had a great time. Thanks to you guys for putting this together and I look forward to the next meetup.

That's awesome, Dave was late so he had to take the group photograph! Wish I could have toughed it out until the end. There are some great photographs.

I have a roll of film bouncing around my cupholder that I hope to get by a lab to develop and scan sometime. When I get a page of anything share-worthy I'll remember to note it back here with a link.

I am sorry I missed the photo-shoot walking bit. I have for many years (as well as a few books) captured many aspects of downtown. Even now I am tooling up for a series on under-appreciated architecture that will commence upon my return from New York in early January.

As for the Bloggers on Ice convention, I got there just in time to be wet. Browne was to convene, too, but as we both have loads to do as well as take public transport, we ended up nearly missing even each other before we had a drink at the Biltmore before heading our ways.

If anyone happened to see me there, I were at the 5th street end, some 6'3" tall in a camel-hair jacket and one of my usual fedoras.

I suppose I am just too damned late all the time, these days. . .

I imagine there will be some photos of the event, and perhaps the possibility of another such happening.

Fabrico does have a website of his photographs and it's highly recommended. Some of the best pics of downtown I have seen. He sent over a few to VFaL last summer.

Has anyone photographed all the fountains around the major buildings downtown? There is wonderful stuff all around Bunker Hill, but you gotta climb stairs and snoop.
