One More Week of a Red City Hall
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — In city council this morning Councilwoman Wendy Greuel made the presentation for "Go Red for Women," an American Heart Association campaign to promote female heart health. City Hall's been lit up red for the cause, as Angelenic figured out last week.
In today's presentation Greuel said that City Hall will be lit through Valentines Day, and that the red filters and labor needed to color City Hall for the campaign were donated by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 11.
Over on the Go for Red site you can see other iconic buildings lit red for the cause, but no shot of L.A.'s City Hall.

Thanks for the linkage!
BTW, I think it's "Greuel."
# on Feb.08.2008 AT 03:03 PMYou're right. That's what happens when I write stuff without looking it up.
# on Feb.08.2008 AT 03:08 PMIs it just me? But, the phallic imagery in conjunction with Valentine's Day seems pretty obvious. Not that I mind. Is this what they mean when they say our tax dollars hard at work.
# on Feb.08.2008 AT 03:09 PMI think donated filters + labor == no tax dollars at work.
# on Feb.08.2008 AT 03:32 PMTwo years ago (almost exactly) I did a Ride-Arc where Alex centered the ride theme around a discussion of male vs. female architecture. His basic question was that if you say that tower-type architecture is male and phallic, what's the female equivalent? I can't remember where all our stops were, but I know he was making the case that female architecture was more horizontal and not designed to have more power as you go higher. Educational institutions were one example of this.
I think in the end they're just buildings.

goes to sit back down in the corner..
