Eat a Whopper to Support the Simmons Family
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Here's a good cause for eating unhealthy on Wednesday: from 6am to midnight the Burger King on Cesar Chavez is donating 100% of sales to the family of fallen SWAT officer Randal Simmons, who was killed in the line of duty last week. From a notice sent out today:
On Wed., Feb. 13, 2008, the Burger King at 700 W. Cesar Chavez Ave. in Los Angeles will donate 100 percent of its sales from 6 a.m. to midnight to the Simmons family, courtesy of Ralph and Larry Cimmarusti, who own more than 50 Burger King Restaurants in Los Angeles and Texas. As committed partners of the LAPD, the Cimmarusti brothers donated over $27,000 to the family of Officer Landon Dorris following his death from a traffic accident on Oct. 22, 2006.
The restaurant's on the SW corner of Cesar Chavez and Grand. There's no direct DASH service from the Downtown core, but the B DASH (Chinatown) will drop you off at Temple and Grand. From there it's a flat walk across the 101.

# on Feb.13.2008 AT 10:47 AMThank you again, Ralph and Larry Cimmarusti. We phoned in our order and with no delay, picked up fifty-five hamburgers and fries for our employees.
To those reading this Blog, this is not the first time the Cimmarustis' have opened their doors in such a charitable fashion. They are outstanding community role-models!
